Perennial backmarkers Sauber have new funding for a renewed push up the grid in the Formula 1 championship for 2017. Celebrating their 25th season in the sport, Sauber has changed the livery for the 2017 car with the yellow and blue colours replaced by a gold, white and blue combination.
Originally founded by Peter Sauber, the team has undergone various identity changes over the years, with BMW taking a controlling stake in the team for several years before leaving after the financial crisis of 2008. Those BMW years were the most successful for Sauber with strong funding and driver line-up. Recently times have been tough, with results at the back of the field common, and any precious championship points gained going a long way to keeping the team alive.
