After being teased at the 2017 Geneva motor show, Aston Martin Racing are set produce 210 units of the 205 mph Rapide AMR super saloon. The engine is the same 5.9L V12 found in the GT12 Vantage, pumping out a total of 594 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. The ZF 8-speed transmission has been re-tuned to enable the Rapide AMR to sprint form 0-100 kph in 4.4 seconds, not bad for a car that weighs over 4,000 lbs.
To compliment the extra power and speed, the Rapide AMR gets larger Carbon-ceramic brakes with six-pot calipers for extra stopping ability. The ride height has been lowered by 10mm, and the adaptive dampers have been recalibrated to reduce roll and pitch. The wheels are a new 21 inch forged design covered with Michelin Super Sport tyres. Styling changes are highlighted by a redesigned front bumper, aggressive side skirts and rear diffuser and AMR paint scheme.
Aston Martin President & Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer, commented: "AMR takes technology and inspiration from our motorsport programme to amplify the sporting prowess in our road cars which is clear to see in the Rapide AMR, Aston Martin’s most extreme, 4-door sports car. With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, Aston Martin has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes."
