Description

Since it’s first appearance back in 2011, the BAC Mono has made waves as a road going single seater track car specialist. Now BAC has shown off for the first time at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed the new Mono R. The 2nd generation car that is set to take the brand to the next level and boasting a very impressive power to weight ratio of 622 horsepower per ton.

The inline 4 cylinder engine has been co-developed with Mountune and had it’s cylinder bore size increased and crankshaft stroke reduced to take it up to a 2.5L capacity. Producing 345 PS (254 kW) of power this engine has earned the title of ‘world’s most power dense naturally aspirated, road-legal engine’. With 136 horsepower per litre and revving to 8,800 rpm, it’s no wonder it holds that position.

The Mono R also features a lower kerb weight than the original Mono, some 25 kg less. This is thanks to new lighter graphene-enhanced carbon body panels, carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust system and a carbon floor.
