Description

With an impressive 582 hp-per-tonne power to weight ratio, the new BAC Mono is an even better version of the single seater supercar beater. Since the original Mono was released in 2011, BAC have carved out a nice little segment of the market for themselves, offering a unique driving experience that closely resembles a race car, yet is fully road legal. In 2019 they unveiled the more hardcore limited run Mono R, and now in 2020 they are giving the Mono entirely new underpinnings.

Starting with the Engine, BAC have opted for the first time to go with a turbocharged offering, selecting a 2.3L inline 4 developed by Mountune. Peak power is rated at 337 PS (248 kW), and peak torque at 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). That power coupled with the very light kerb weight of only 570 kilograms, give the Mono an insane power to weight ratio. Needless to say the acceleration of the Mono is impressive, with 0-60 mph only taking 2.7 seconds to complete.

BAC’s aim with this Mono was to produce the purest driving experience money can buy. In that effort they have lowered the cars center of gravity and improved the weight distribution and balance by relocating the battery and fuel cell. The suspension has been tweaked and brakes improved for better performance all-round.
