Hyundai Elantra N Line packages a sporty 4-door sedan with 200 horsepower and a six-speed manual. With Hyundai stepping into a new styling direction for it's cars, the new Elantra has divided opinions about it's looks. Now the sportier N Line version has arrived with a snappier design that I think improves on the base models appearance, although the angular form will not doubt still be disliked by some.
With The N performance brand slowly being rolled out across some of Hyundai's line-up, those cars fall into two categories. Firstly there are the full blown N cars like the i30 N and Veloster N, cars with proper performance credentials that are fun and exciting. Then there are the N Line models, a sort of compromise between those performance N cars and the regular base versions. These sit somewhere in between in terms of power, handling and price. This is certainly where the Elantra N Line sits.
The engine chosen for the job is a 1.6L turbocharged 4 cylinder that makes 204 PS (150 kW) of power and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. Buyers will have choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, which will make some happy to have the manual option live on for a while longer. 18-inch alloy wheels come standard and complement the bolder styling of the N Line. Hyundai are also offering individual N performance parts for sale in Korea, with the hope that one day others around the world will have the option of buying a base model Hyundai and modding it with official parts in to their chosen spec.
