The GTS badge returns to the Volkswagen Scirocco, sitting at the top of Scirocco food chain with premium features and very capable performance. The Scirocco GTS was first launched in 1982, and shares many of the same attributes as the 2016 model. Both were based off the Golf GTI from the time, sharing the same engine configuration, and borrowing many technical and visual elements from Golf as well. The 2016 model continues with the strip down the centre of the car as well, just like in 1982.
Buyers have the choice between a manual or 6-speed DSG transmission, of which propels the GTS from 0-100 kph in a healthy 6.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 244 kph for the DSG and 246 kph for the manual. The interior receives some love too, where plenty of premium materials are used and splashes of special touches abound.
