2009 Ferrari 599XX

The Ferrari XX program moved on from the Enzo based FXX, turning it’s focus onto the 599 GTB. The result is an extreme track only version, that has undergone extensive modifications implementing technologies from Formula 1 racing.

The engine received extensive work on the combustion chambers and inlet and exhaust tracts, and boosted the redline to 9,000 rpm. This was done to achieve the target power output of 700 hp. Weight was significantly reduced by 270 kg, through light weight engine components, and the use of composite materials, carbon-fiber body parts and brake pads.

Downforce was also greatly improved with aero components generating 280 kg at 200 kph, and 630 kg at 300 kph. In 2010 the 599XX recorded the fastest ever lap time for a production-derived sports car of 6:58.16 at the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring.
