This homologation special was built to race in Group A, and ended up becoming one of the most iconic fast Ford’s. With this Sierra being the first Ford to wear the Cosworth name, the engine was always going to be something special. The 2.0L turbocharged inline 4 developed by Cosworth made 224 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Not big numbers by todays standards, but plenty in the 1980’s to make it a real hero on the road.

Equipped with a five-speed Borg-Warner transmission sending power to the rear axel fitted with a viscous-coupling limited-slip differential, the Sierra RS500 Cosworth was good for a 0-62 mph time of 6.2 seconds. The official top speed was 150 mph, even though that giant rear wing protruding from the rear glass made it look like it go much faster.
