Ford Performance have expanded the Raptor family with the introduction of the Ford Ranger Raptor. The Ranger Raptor takes a lot of styling cues from its big brother the F-150 Raptor. Flared wheel arches accommodate larger wheels and tyres controlled by Fox Racing Shox long-travel suspension. The front bumper and grille gain a more aggressive look, with the giant Ford name spread across the front of the car. A large skid plate completes the rough and ready look.
The powerplant chosen for the new Ranger Raptor is a 2.0L 4 cylinder Diesel that uses twin turbochargers to deliver 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The twin turbos use a small and large configuration, with the smaller turbo providing lower rpm response and the larger taking over to provide higher boost levels at higher rpm. The 10-Speed transmission can send power to all 4 wheels, and the terrain management system features a dedicated Baja mode that is porgrammed for high-speed off-road driving.
“We are so excited and proud to unleash this vehicle to the public, driving it really makes you feel like a hero,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance. “The Ford Performance team is excited to extend the Raptor name from our flagship off-road performance F-150 to Ranger. Just like the F-150 Raptor, the Ford Ranger Raptor builds upon the core capability of the range of vehicles it comes from and carries the unmistakable Ford Performance DNA appearance.”
