2018 Hyundai Le Fil Rouge Concept

Hyundai has made a splash at Geneva with the Le Fil Rouge Concept, which translates to ‘common thread’ bringing forth a totally new design direction for the company. The long 4 door coupe features a striking front grille that stretches the width of the car from wheel arch to wheel arch. Hyundai is also incorporating a totally new lighting architecture, with no obvious headlights to be seen.

The Le Fil Rouge concept was designed by Luc Donckerwolke, a man responsible for cars such as the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, Lamborghini Murcielago and Gallardo.Hyundais new design theme is ‘sensuous sportiness’, with the ultimate goal of ‘vehicles with heightened emotional value’ forming a core part of what the Le Fil Rouge is trying to achieve.

“‘Le Fil Rouge’ is a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s design DNA that originated from the brand’s historical Hyundai Coupe Concept in 1974,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President and head of Hyundai Design Center. “Building on our long history of creating distinctive and sporty character in vehicles, we will open a new era for Hyundai design.”

“Our goal is to build a beloved brand by creating vehicles with heightened emotional value to reshape the landscape of car design. This is the foundation of our concept,” added Sang-yup Lee, Head of Hyundai Styling.
