The Hyundai N family have got a new member, and it takes the form of the aggressively styled Elantra N. Making use of the familiar 2.0L turbo inline 4 engine from the i30 N and Kona N, it develops the same 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque and comes with two transmission options. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic will most likely be the best selling, but the six-speed manual will bring joy to those who fear the demise of the manual gearbox. It’s nice to see some performance cars still providing the choice.
Fitted standard is an electronically controlled limited-slip differential which sends power to the front wheels that feature axles with integrated wheel hubs and bearings. The suspension has been worked over with additional bracing and new bushings fitted, along with a 10mm ride height drop all round. The brakes have been enlarged to 14.2 inches at the front and the tires have been upgraded to stickier 245 section’s.
