Unveiled in 2012 at the Leipzig Motor Show was the Mazda MX-5 Yusho Concept, a demonstration of what was possible when modifying the MX-5. Undertaken by Mazda Germany, the Yusho (Victory in Japanese) concept has a list of changes that transforms the MX-5 into an even more capable road carver.

Starting with a supercharger kit by Flyin’ Miata with upgraded pistons and connecting rods by Cosworth, uprated fuel injectors and a custom ECU map, the Yusho now produces 238 hp with 274 Nm of torque. The 6-speed gearbox gets a better clutch and a 4.1 final drive ratio, and a custom sports exhaust with control valves provides a nicer soundtrack. Bilstein suspension is combined with Eibach springs and anti-roll bars and Toyo semi-slick R888 tires to improve handling, and some visual tweaks provide a hint at the Yusho’s capabilities.
