Ferrari have updated the Portofino with a Modificata version that borrows from their other GT car the Roma. The Portofino and the Roma sit in Ferrari’s GT model range, with the Portofino being the first of the two models released it is now getting some upgrades from the newer Roma.
The engine is nearly identical between the two cars now, with the Portofino M enjoying a slight power bump from 592 to 612 hp. Torque has remained the same at 760 Nm between 3,000 and 5,750 rpm, but varies depending on the gear selected as Ferrari has tailored the experience of their turbocharged engines to feel more like their old naturally aspirated units. The Roma’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is now in use in the Portofino is smaller and lighter than the seven-speed unit it replaces. The 0-100 kph acceleration time has been ever so slightly reduced for the new Portofino, going down from 3.5 to 3.45 seconds.
With a 1,545 kg dry weight, the Portofino M tips the scales 73 kg heavier than the Roma. No much of surprise there, as the folding hard-top mechanism of the Portofino will always add extra weight when compared to a fixed roof coupe. Those with a keen eye will notice the Portofino M features a gentle design refresh with a new front bumper, wheel designs and colour options.
