The new pony car king, Ford unleashes the track-focused Mustang Dark Horse. With the launch of the all-new Mustang, Ford saw an opportunity to do something different with the line-up. Here’s what they came up with.
Fitted with a long list of upgrades, the chassis gets heavy-duty magnetically controlled dampers, larger rear sway bars, Torsen rear diff, Brembo 19-inch six-piston brakes, lightweight bracing and optional carbon fiber wheels. A Tremac six-speed manual is the standard option that is tasked with handling the 500+ hp of the 5.0L Coyote V8 under the hood.
Ford are also going to offer two dedicated track-only versions. One will be called the Dark Horse S, which will be aimed at the weekend track warrior, and then the Dark Horse R for racing. Both of these models will not be street-legal and will include a safety cage, nets, race seat and race steering wheel.
