Description

A re-creation of the C2 Corvette Grand Sport, modern tech underneath, with the great look of the 1960’s on top. Superformance have created their own platform for this Corvette, with fully independent front and rear suspension, Bilstein dampers and H&R springs, vented disc brakes all round and rack and pinion power steering. Buyers bring their own engine and transmission, with Superformance offering a list of eight engines they recommend will fit and perform to the required standard of a stripped out racing Corvette.

The original plan for the Corvette in 1962 was to develop a racing program to compete in the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Chevrolet chief engineer Zora Arkus Duntov was tasked with building 125 purpose built Corvette racecars known internally as the LightWeight. Unfortunately after only five cars were produced, the Chevrolet powers that be ordered the project’s end and for the cars to be scrapped. Zora went on to sell three of the Grand Sports, of which one of them eventually went racing at Sebring in 1965 with Delmo Johnson at the wheel.
