Volkswagen have unveiled the Golf GTI TCR, a customer race car ready to for competition in the 2016 racing season. Based off the seventh generation Golf GTI, the TCR will be available to be raced in up to 16 national and international TCR touring car championships.
The TCR includes all the race spec goodies one would expect, like an aerodynamic front splitter and carbon rear wing. Safety features include a racing seat with head protectors, racing safety cage and an FIA-approved safety tank, making sure the Golf GTI TCR meets all the requirements for safe racing.
Power from the 4 cylinder engine is a mighty 325 hp and 410 Nm of torque, connected to a sequential gearbox with shift paddles located on the steering wheel. Chassis development was done in partnership between Volkswagen Motorsport and the sport department at SEAT, leveraging the extensive knowledge of the Seat Leon Cup racer.
