Description
The Alpenglow Hy4 is Alpines hydrogen-powered racing prototype that could be a glimpse into the brands future race-bred models. Designed to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen powered performance cars, this is the first working prototype after the reveal of the original Alpenglow concept car in 2022. Built around a Ligier LMP3 carbon monocoque, the Hy4 is powered by an Oreca-derived 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine running on hydrogen. The difference here is that instead of going down the usual route of using the hydrogen to power an electric motor, Alpine are injecting the fuel directly into a traditional internal combustion engine.
