Maggiore have re-imagined a 308 Ferrari as a modern day homage to the 288 GTO and its creator, Nicola Materazzi. With a restored and reinforced a 308 chassis, Maggiore have fitted a new suspension and brake setup with a wider track front and rear. A highly revised version of the 308’s V8 engine sits in the middle connected to a six-speed manual transmisison.
The only part of that V8 that remains original is the crankcase, with new heads, manifolds, intercooler, turbos and individual throttle bodies added into the mix. This had the effect of raising peak power up to 592 hp, a nice bump up from the 240 hp it started life with.
It doesn’t stop there with the changes, as Maggiore have fitted a new body shell in an effort to bring the 308 into the twenty first century. Designed with a more angular form, the GranTurismo tries hard to look modern, but sacrifices the clean lines of it’s inspiration. The end result is a bit overdone (especially at the rear), but will still turn plenty of heads.
