Hennessey have revealed their Venom F5 hypercar is ready for production, packing 1,792 hp and aiming for 311 mph or more. Following on from the original Venom GT, the F5 has been years in development with it’s sight set on competing with the Bugatti Chrion, Koenigsegg Jesko and SSC Tuatara for the road car top speed crown. With a top speed expected to crack 311 mph, the Venom F5 should slot itself right up near the top if they can manage an official run.
Powered by an LS V8 that is 6.6L in capacity and has two bespoke turbochargers attached, the Venom F5 is good for 1,792 hp with 1,617 Nm of torque when running on E85 fuel. With a dry weight of 1,360 kg the power-to-weight ratio comes in at a very impressive 1,317 hp per ton, which is 300 hp per ton more than the Koenigsegg Agera RS. Handling all that power is a seven-speed single-clutch automated gearbox that send everything to the rear wheels with it all governed by a Motec engine management system.
Acceleration is as expected very brisk with Hennessey quoting a 0-62 mph time of less than 3 seconds and 0-124 mph in under 5 seconds. The price comes in at US$2.1 million dollars with the Texas-based tuner planning to make only 24 Venom F5’s in total.
