The Mini Electric Pacesetter will be taking up the position of the 2021 Formula E Safety Car, hinting at a possible performance electric Mini in the near future. Based on the Mini Cooper SE, the Electric Pacesetter is inspired by John Cooper Works and weighs in a full 287 pounds lighter. Most of that weight loss comes from gutting the interior and fitting a roll-cage and race seats with a six-point harnesses.
In order to make the Electric Pacesetter more capable on the track, Mini have upgraded the suspension with adjustable racing coilovers, changed the brakes to a four-piston caliper setup and fitted wider Michelin Pilot Sport tires wrapped around forged wheels. The wider tires required changes to the wheel arches with unique 3D-printed carbon fiber fender flares made for the job, which are complimented by the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser.
