Staying true to the 2016 concept, the brand new Honda Civic Type R has been revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The radical styling from the concept has been retained in it's fullness, a rare occurance, marking this new generation Type R as an exciting addition to the Honda family history. The Type R stands tall at the top of the Civic line up, ready to compete directly with the best hot hatches around.
The turbocharged engine has been tweaked and fiddled to provide improved throttle response and driveability. The six-speed manual transmission has gained a rev matching control system that will blip the throttle during downshifts.
The weight of the new Type R has been lowered and torsional rigidity is improved by 38% over the previous generation. To minimise torque steer, new geometry for the front suspension has been fitted and the rear gets a new independent multi-link system.
